Pants Tour 09

Above are pictures from Pants Tour this week.
Pants Tour = week long music festival featuring local Memphis bands (mainly on the Smith7 record label)
An Memphis-raised artist who now lives in New York came down to Pants Tour to create a duct tape materpiece during the Wicker set. You can see him running around without a shirt in the first and second pictures.

It's been a fun week, as I have been to all of the past four Pants Tour shows, plus the pool party thats going down today.
Since Smith7 doesn't have as frequent of shows since I started going six years ago, this week is always anticipated and lots of fun.
Smith7 bands to check out (via Myspace): Wicker, The Acorns, and (MY FAVORITE) The Raleigh Symphony

someone told me its all happening...at the gym?

Soccer moms. You know the ones I am talking about. Blonde. Size 2. Tan. Have nothing better to do every day except spend five hours at the gym and tanning beds. This is what I encountered at French Riviera today. I go to work out. Makes me feel better and healther, plus helps with my asthma. But then I am forced to get on the eliptical right next to these women. As I am forcing my way through 45 minutes of cardio, these women run 15 miles without even breaking a sweat.

I am not one of those people who looks extra sexy after a workout. Personally, I do not see how people do it. Women with their glistening hair in a ponytail, with their post-workout glow on their faces. They hop everywhere, as their hair swings back and forth behind them. What do I look like after the gym? My face is redder than a lobster, and I have sweat pouring off my face and body onto the floor. Its enough to make someone sick. I look like I am having a heart attack. I wish I could be a sexy workout woman, but alas, I do not see how this is possible.

My proposal? Two seperate gym areas: one called "too-in-shape-soccer-mom-area" and the other called "red-faced-sweat-too-much-area". There has to be others like me out there somewhere, right?

Also, picked up the pick of the week for this week at Starbucks: "Coffee Girl" by The Tragically Hip. Pretty sweet. Check it out.

and Bob Dylan's new album rocks as well.

A fly?

So there has been buzz all over the media discussing how Obama killed a fly that was swarmng him during an interview. People say it was unprofessional. Many debates are taking place across the country on this "controversial matter". My personal opinion? Why does this matter? Do people seriously run out of important things to talk about so much that they have to settle for discussing a fly? It was disturbing the interview. Obama solved the problem. Done. Now lets get back to fixing this economy...

In other news, I picked up the music picks of the week from Starbucks this week. I enjoyed both of them: "Sunset Gates" by Gomez and "Still" by Great Lake Swimmers.

Check em out.

Hello World

Hello blogging world.

I decided, through the encouragement of a regular at work (thanks George), that I should create a blog. I am, in fact, in the Communications field. While I have not entered the job market yet, as I have two years of my Master's to complete first, George and I figured this will help me keep me skills sharp and stay in touch with the techno-world that the Communication field has created.

I have not had a blog since high school. I was one of the kids that had a greatestjournal/ livejournal to post my emotional high school drama over the internet. After I got tired of that, I stopped writing on the internet. Now, 6 years later, I feel I have matured (a least a little).

Let's try this whole blogging thing again.
